Close Encounters of the Different Kind

Díjat nyert a STEREO Akt nyári közösségi-művészeti projektje Spanyolországban:
Az elismerést a FiraTàrrega fesztivállal és a FÜGE Produkcióval való együttműködésben létrehozott "Close Encounters of the Different Kind" című közösségi-művészeti projektjéért kapta.

Close Encounters of the Different Kind has won Francesc Candel Award given by Lluís Carulla Associacion. The prizes are awarded for good practices by certain projects which have contributed to a feeling of public-spiritedness, harmonious cohabitation, a knowledge of the country (language, traditions, geography and history, socio-cultural values), an increasing awareness of the culture of immigration, the participation of women immigrants and young immigrants, contact between Catalans and immigrants, and a positive vision of immigration in the media.

There is a group of strangers around looking just like human beings. But they are not. All of them are aliens from different galaxies. What is common about them is that they all come from very far away and in there way to scrutinize the Earth they got stuck here in Tarrega for some reason. They are getting used to their new home. The galactic head office calls these strangers the „T-Group”.

In Close Encounters we can witness images that evoke the T-Group’s different challenges with establishing a new home without having roots, and not being able to use their own way of communication. However their stay seems to be longer than expected, it is not endless. They have to find out how to spend the rest of the time on earth. To find the answer of what it means to be a temporary neighbour of human beings.

The performance is a complex experience of sound design, live music and video art in an image- and body-based show that deals with the feeling of distance, unpredictability, danger and closeness, safety, familiarity.

The new creation of Martin Boross’ STEREO Akt in co-production with Fira Tarrega is a site specific, community work that involves local immigrants as civilian participants. Close Encounters is a summary of a 2 weeks long workshop in which different stories, experiences and Tarrega based amateurs have met a video artist, a musician, a dancer and a theatre director.
