True Stories About Care

For the first time in its history, the Örkény Theatre is preparing a production starring non-actors. The company members are joined on stage by everyday heroes: dedicated professionals without whose work the country would grind to a halt in no time. They are the care workers who work tirelessly for us, but invisibly to us, and most of the time instead of us. Child- and elderly-care workers, health professionals, social workers, mothers caring for their disabled children at home. They accompany us from birth to death, yet we hardly know anything about them. Their work is vital, yet we do not appreciate them enough. They venture into areas where very few of us do. Who looks after someone who cannot look after themselves?

Outstanding Workers is a documentary piece based on the stories of care workers with the creative contributions of the actors, asking questions about social mechanisms that are taken for granted: local and global problems, the role of theater, the value of helping, and our collective view of humanity.
